We first met Gary in 1993 - Gary was managing the drill rig business of JKS Boyles and we met when Gary made a trip to South Africa. The following year the entire Rice family visited Canada for a bit of December snow. During that visit we got to meet Barb and Sandra and Alan and their respective families and we immediately developed a very strong bond with the Piphers. Gary and I spoke endlessly about drilling and Des and Barbs spoke even more endlessly about other things !!
We very soon realised that the Piphers are a very special group of people and at the heart of the Pipher clan was a very special person - Barb Pipher.
Since our initial meeting we have been privileged to have visited with Gary and Barb many times and we have all, but especially Des, developed a very strong bond with Barb. Her kindness and generosity were incredible and she showered our children with attention and special “Canadian” gifts that they all still treasure. Barb was always smiling and always cheerful - she, and all the Piphers always made us feel like we were the most important people in their lives and we will always remember the wonderful times that we spent together.
Our hearts are broken that Barb is now gone. We reminisce often about the wonderful times we had with Barb and Gary and we wish every strength to Gary, Sandra, Alan, Julie and their families at this very sad time.
Much love from Colin, Des, Sian, Erin, Nicholas and their families. xx

INDUCTION OF BARBARA PIPHER (Click once on picture to expand)
CNSA HALL OF FAME, COLDWATER, ON
It gives me great pleasure to Nominate Barb Pipher, my friend, to the CNSA Special Awards Category of the CNSA Hall of Fame.
Barb and Gary have been supporters of CNSA Shuffleboard for many years. I first met Barb at a tournament in Chatham Ontario in the mid-1990s. I remember her infectious smile to this day; it radiated warmth; it sent a warm welcome to all who greeted her.
Barb and Gary became very interested in this sport, so much so that they decided with the help of Ross and Grace, to start looking into launching shuffleboard in this very facility. After extensive planning and much travel, extra work and building sufficient outside interest, the deal was sealed, and out came the paint cans, the discs and the cues. And, at every step along the route, Barb seemed to be everywhere at just the right time! Be it making coffee, making sure there was a cookie or two waiting, or arranging lunch from the local restaurant, we could count on Barb.
Barb has been Treasurer of the Coldwater Shuffleboard Club and worked tirelessly helping with the CNSA tournaments, and the past few years, assisting the tournament director at these functions. Barb and Gary travel to and support all the CNSA and OSA Summer tournaments. When they are wintering in Florida, Canadian shuffleboard is always front and center, new ideas on how and what to do for the upcoming CNSA events. Barb has been actively involved in organizing and helping with this CNSA tournament once again.
This year Barb has been a constant sounding board and supporter of Gary in the planning and organization of the upcoming ISA tournament to be held in Midland in August. Behind every Good Man there is a Good Woman >> Ladies and Gentlemen >>
It gives me great pleasure, great satisfaction, to present Barb Pipher, my friend, as an Inductee to the CNSA Special Awards Category of the CNSA Hall of Fame

Ken and I are so sorry to hear of Barb’s passing. You never realize how people are connected to little parts of your life until you hear they are gone. As a child I remember Barb at her parents restaurant. As a young adult always stopping and chatting. As an adult working at the bank with Barb and her smile and “ did you hear …” She was a good wife, and a proud mother. Keep your memories close in your heart to bring out in tough times. We are keeping you in our thoughts.
