Obituary of Donald Wilfred John Walker

Passed away peacefully at the Mariposa House Hospice, Severn with his family at his side on Tuesday December 13, 2022 at the age of 82.  Cherished husband of Mildred (nee Silk).  Loved father of Rhondda McNabb (Mark Kivi).  Loving grandfather of Cody McNabb and Curtis McNabb.  Step grandfather of Allison Kivi and Matthew Kivi.  Dear brother and brother-in-law of Allan & Elaine Walker and John & Jean Silk.  Predeceased by his brother Charles Walker (June 2022), sister-in-law Barbara Walker (July 2017) and by his son-in-law Todd McNabb (September 2014). 

Don loved helping people and serving the community.  Don helped at events at the Eady Hall, maintained the snowmobile trails, an active parishioner of St. George’s Anglican Church, Fairvalley, served as the Church Warden for many years, served on St. George’s Cemetery Board, and was Past President and very active member of the Coldwater and District Agricultural Society.  As a result of his volunteerism in the community Don was honoured to receive the Oro-Medonte’s Citizen of the Year Award in 2001.

The family will honour his life with a visitation at the COLDWATER FUNERAL HOME, Coldwater on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  The funeral service will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, Fairvalley on Thursday December 22^nd at 1pm.  Cremation to follow.

Friends are invited to join the family at St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Fairvalley on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 1pm for Don’s interment service and celebration of his life.

As an expression of sympathy donations in memory of Don may be made to the Mariposa House Hospice, Severn or to St. George’s Anglican Cemetery, Fairvalley.
