I am so very saddened to lose Joe. He was a skilled and, even more so, clever carpenter who helped my husband, Will and I, make many improvements to our 100 year old cottage along the Main Channel in the Georgian Bay. I'll always remember his big blue eyes and the sight of him sitting on one of his homemade benches, smoking his big cigar, whittling away at an old window in our cottage and turning it into masterpiece. Just one of the many artful things he did for us. Over the years, he became a friend and someone we could always depend on. So kind and so witty, I looked forward to seeing him more than most others during our summer trips from the US to our island
My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.
I will miss you so very much, Joe and plan to plant a pine tree in your honor.
Rest in peace.

For the past twenty years, Ray Corbiere was our valued contractor and advisor, but mostly, Ray was our friend. Ray built and looked after our docks, and he restored and renovated our 50 year-old family-built cottage. With Ray onsite we felt assured that our renovations would be done right, better, stronger and more lasting than the original.
These were some of our most enjoyable years. Ray was patient with our decision process, and respectful of the history of the buildings he was renovating. We sought his advice, we valued his friendship, we were proud of our association.
Now we are surrounded and sheltered by the excellent construction by Ray and his team. We get to walk below the posts and beams he crafted, and admire the skill and precision of his work, whether done with a chainsaw, his table saw, or his ever-ready pocket knife.
Always positive, always thinking to ask about the events in our lives, always reliable, always a solution finder, always with a contact for any job we needed done, always a good judge of character, always a good listener, always polite. We will sadly miss his laugh, his stories, his advice, his friendship. As Ray would quickly say on hearing of someone’s passing, “Did he have a good life?” A perspective simply put, yet all that’s needed to be asked. Ray gave us all so much, the value of his life is measured in his friends and family.

I remember Joe with fondness, & yes, he always seemed larger than life! And the description in the obituary says it all ... he will be forever remembered by all for his big heart, big smile, big cigar and big sense of humour. I miss Honey Harbour & the people there like Joe, as I travelled further north to live in my latter years. I offer Joe's friends & Family my condolences. Sincerely, Jim Bunsch (Twsp of Carling, on Georgian Bay)
